The Vines Lake occurrence is located about 3.7 kilometres west of Vines Lake, 87 kilometres north of the community of Dease Lake.

Minor molybdenite (assumed to be disseminated) occurs within quartz monzonite of the Early Cretaceous Cassiar batholith noted on Geological Survey of Canada Map 1110A and the Cassiar map in Fieldwork 1978.
